Plinio Avila

SNAPSHOTS
Snapshots’ is a set of photographs of museum visitors taking pictures of artwork. For them, as for the artist in this series, the camera is a tool for creating images, capturing the moment, seize their environment and placed in him: ‘I was here / there’. These images represent the complex filter of perception that access to the technology of digital photography has created between the artwork and the viewer: the work of art that poses (in some cases), the brilliant image camera screen, the eye of the photographer, the camera of Pliny, Pliny, the printed image and finally the observer. The need to capture ‘the moment’ rather than ‘experience’ Aureate dilutes the value of the first work that becomes an excuse. Snapshots introduces performers and spectators the open question of why and what do images.

ARTISTS STATEMENT
Plinio Avila presents his work as reflective notes. From painting, video, drawing and photography, his works are attempts at adaptation. A negotiation between dreams and reality. Art as the best travel companion in the roving and winding journey of the artist who, like many contemporaries, living their everyday between different cities. The constant non-place, transit and remote project work characterized a kind of personal globalization. Changes in culture, climate, language, diet and even personality make identity a more complex, more permeable, less radical and more minority as a minority, to the point of individuality. “ The destination loses meaning to the importance of the journey.
